A former Aetos auxiliary officer who pushed the head of his Indonesian maid was fined $5,000 today.
Mohamed Radzif Mohamed Jaffar, 32, pleaded guilty to hurting Ms Ustariyati, 32, at his Pasir Ris home on Feb 10 last year.
The court heard that the maid woke up at about 5am that day and headed to the kitchen toilet to shower as was her usual routine.
At the toilet, she ran into Radzif who had just finished using the toilet.
She was about to go into the toilet when he stopped her and told her to wait until his wife had woken up and showered first.
But Ms Ustariyati used the shower anyway as she knew that the wife usually showered at around 6am.
When she came out, she found Radzif waiting for her. He asked her angrily why she had gone ahead to take her shower. She apologised. He then used his hand to push her head once, causing her to stumble backwards.
Radzif, who applied to pay the fine by instalments, could have been jailed for up to three years and/or fined up to $7,500 for voluntarily causing hurt.
